So, the teacher’s union where I live went on strike two weeks ago. So, we’ve had no school. Now, some of you may think that’s fine and dandy, but I want to get my Junior Year over with already.
Thankfully, school will hopefully be starting next Tuesday. The judge who ordered the injunction to make the teachers go to school also posted a $200 fine per teacher per day that they don’t go back to school. Now, if they refuse to go to work on Monday for their prep day, the fine is retroactive back to the first day that they refused to obey the injunction. In other words, last Tuesday. There will also be a hefty fine on the Union, about $1500 to be exact, and the Union reps may end up going to prison.
So, with all of this going in order to get the teachers back to work, how likely do you think it will be for school to start on Tuesday?
Not likely.
Want to know the reason why? The KEA’s going around to the other Teachers Unions in the state for DONATIONS to aid the striking teachers. So, if they succeed, the strike will continue, and school will be further delayed.
Personally, I think the teachers are stupid for going on strike in the first place. They keep saying “It’s for the kids!”, but really, it’s all about money. If they really cared about us, they would be in the classroom teaching, not standing on the side of the road picketing. [/rant]
